Life at Tembo Spirit Camp
Tembo Spirit Camp lies within the magnificent Lemek Conservancy, at the northern end of the Mara eco-system. Owned by Maasai landowners and eco-tourism operators, the Lemek Conservancy is an early pioneer of wildlife conservation providing sustainable incomes to Maasai families while offering privileged low density game viewing in a private wilderness with limited bed numbers and vehicle access.
Wildlife density is strong and the excellent resident and visiting wildlife include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hyena, and seasonal cheetah. The landscape is rolling grasslands, Acacia woodland with open valleys with views over the escarpment and plenty of opportunity for photography. The Tembo Spirit Camp means escape from the crowds, an exclusive experience of a premium safari with time for that perfect photo shot.
Tembo Spirit Camp comprises four large traditional tents, furnished, equipped and decorated with great care by local craftsmen, with large bathrooms with hot and cold water, shower and a bath. All the tents have a private terrace, a mini safe, a mini fridge and a standing fan. The swimming pool and spa enable you to enjoy the genuine safari experience in an exclusive bush-resort style in relaxed comfort.
After a few days in the Masai Mara National Reserve, some guests like to end their safari experience at our intimate and luxurious Tembo Spirit Camp, surrounded by beautiful vegetation, enjoying a leisurely pace. Many safari planners combine a conservancy stay with the national reserve for the strongest overall mara experience. This can be arranged with the Tembo Bush Camp.
Tembo Spirit camp is well suited to families and all the tents can be configured with extra beds. Bush breakfasts and bush dinners can be arranged by the banks of the Mara River, or at a selected picnic site. Your wildlife safari experiences inside a private conservancy are memorable and complete.
